Instantly calculate your NRI, decimal interest, and estimated royalty revenue. Built for landmen and mineral owners.
Formula: NRI = (NMA ÷ Acres) × (Royalty% + Overrides − Burdens). Revenue = Volume × Price × NRI.
This free royalty calculator was built for landmen, mineral owners, and energy professionals. It provides fast, accurate estimates of decimal interest (NRI) and royalty revenue, without spreadsheets or complicated math.
NRI = (Net Acres ÷ Tract Acres) × (Royalty % + Overrides − Burdens)
Once you know your NRI, multiply by gross production volume and price per unit to estimate revenue. This calculator automates that process.
Net Mineral Acres (NMA): Your fractional mineral ownership.
Tract/Unit Acres: Total pooled acres.
Lease Royalty: The royalty rate in your lease (e.g., 1/8, 3/16, 20%).
Overrides/NPRI: Additional royalty carved out of the working interest.
Burdens: Deductions reducing the lessor's share.
NRI: Final decimal interest used for payment.
Example 1: 10 NMA in 640 acres, 20% royalty → (10 ÷ 640) × 0.20 = 0.003125. With 1,000 bbl at $70, revenue ≈ $218.75.
Example 2: 5 NMA in 160 acres, 25% royalty + 2.5% override → (5 ÷ 160) × 0.275 = 0.00859375. With 500 mcf at $3.50, revenue ≈ $15.03.
Can I use this calculator in any state? Yes. The math is universal, though deductions/taxes vary.
Does this include post-production costs? No. This is gross revenue only. Operators may deduct taxes, transportation, and marketing costs.
What's the difference between royalty and working interest calculators? Royalty calculators estimate lessor/mineral revenue. Working interest calculators account for operator expenses.
